spasmolytic

In early 2006, I bought my first digital camera; an Olympus model with a 5MP sensor. I thought I would try to create images that were different from my usual work. And I wanted to get to know the machine.

These images are the result.

Not that great. Pretty insulated. Hermetic, even.

At the time, I really struggled to find subjects for pictures. I never liked taking pictures of people. And landscapes were banal. Documentary-style pictures did not interest me, either.

I wanted to capture something more directed. Editorialized, even. Staged. Something that could convey meaning, and maybe reveal something about the world through the juxtaposition of the photographic with the semantic.
